By copying the INI over you "know" that the change was made and MSYS has been added. I have EclipsePortable java edition on my desktop and on my external hard drive on windows bit. I also had this problem in win bit before, I never fixed it there either. The eclipse splash screen flashes and disappears When I install PAM on my desktop and put the CommonFiles in there and EclipsePortable, same thing happens. When I rename CommonFiles, everything works fine and it uses local java. I also redownloaded Java, just to see if the one at my desktop was corrupt. I deleted the all the java from and I reinstalled it on my external hard drive via the Menu and copied the CommonFiles folder. This means both folders are identical. Every time I start PortableEclipse, I get the following error: "The environment variable HOME is not set. If this is not correct then please set the HOME environment variable and restart Eclipse.
